Teacher-Child Interaction Program (TCIP)

Who:   Preschool & Kindergarten teachers who work with children exhibiting disruptive
behaviors, peer conflicts, language difficulties, sensory issues, and mild cases of Autism and
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum.

WHAT:  Preschool teachers with children who display a variety of problematic behaviors. It is
developed from Parent-Child Interaction Therapy principals, — supporting relationship building
and attachment theory.  The structure of the program provides 6 hours of skill building training
with the teacher followed by 4 to 8 in-class coaching sessions with teacher and selected child.

DIR®/Floortime/Play Project

Who:  Children with difficulties relating, communicating and/or self-regulating; may include
children who are on the Autistic Spectrum and/or children who have sensory sensitivities

What:   Addresses developmental needs, honors the child’s individual differences, and grows
important learning relationships via semi-structured play interactions  -- Home therapy is
available

Age range:  2 and up

Parent-Child Attunement Therapy (PCAT)

Who:  Parent (or care-giver) and child

What:  Parents (or care-givers) become skilled at reading their   child’s cues while learning
practical skills to manage difficult behaviors

Age range:  12 months to 2 years

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

Who:  Parent (or care-giver) and child; useful for parent-child relationship building; increasing
parental skills; addressing behavioral problems and adjusting to child’s individual needs

What:  Via live coaching, parents learn to balance nurture and structure

Parenting Classes

Who:  Open to the community

What:  Evidence based programs are utilized such as: Parenting Now!; Make Parenting a
Pleasure; Active Parenting Today; Community Parenting Education (COPE).   Classes expose
parents to preventative techniques and early intervention and seek to reduce parental stress,
which is a strong risk factor for child abuse

Dance/Movement Relational Experiential Program

Who:  At-risk 8 to 13 years olds who have experienced disruptions to the family structure, such
as parent or sibling incarceration, poverty, abuse and/or life-threatening illness.

What:  Pre-teens and their caretakers learn new ways of relating during the movement
experiential sessions, while increasing feelings of family support, and peaceful conflict
resolution

Treatment of Sexual Abuse/Assault

Who:  For clients 5 years to adult

What:  Therapeutic services, emotional support, and community resources to individuals and
families who have experienced rape, childhood sexual abuse, and sexual addiction

Teen Groups

Who:   Adolescent females aged 14-18

What:  Teens get positive peer support while exploring topics including family relationships,
self-image issues, stress, managing emotions, peer pressures, and future goals


Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

Who:  Child and parent (or care-giver) component helps children, adolescents, and parents
overcome difficulties associated with abuse and trauma.

What:  Receive knowledge and skills related to processing trauma; managing distressing
thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; and enhancing safety, parenting skills, and family
communication

Watch, Wait, and Wonder

Who:  Particularly effective for young and/or first time parents learning to tune into an infant’s
style of communication and needs

What:  This research-based therapy directly uses the infant’s spontaneous activity in a free-
play setting to enhance parents’ sensitivity and responsiveness within the parent-infant
attachment relationship

  • have frequent tantrums

  • cause difficulty in day care or preschool settings

families and teachers.  These programs are research-
based, proven effective methods for reducing
children's aggression and behavior problems,
increasing relational and social competence at home
and at school, as well helping teachers and parents in
managing their children’s unique needs
